Medicure Pharma Inc. (“Medicure Pharma,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) distributes AGGRASTAT (tirofiban hydrochloride) injection in the United States. We are a subsidiary of Medicure Inc., a pharmaceutical company headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
This Policy describes how we handle personal information collected through aggrastathdb.com (the “Site”), and through the email addresses and telephone numbers published on it.
The Site is intended for United States health care professionals only. Before entering, you are asked to confirm that you are a United States health care professional. We record that you confirmed it, but we do not independently verify your professional status at that point, and we do not ask for your name or credentials in order to enter.
AGGRASTAT is a prescription medicine administered in a hospital setting. The Site contains prescribing and clinical information intended for professional use, and is not directed at patients or the general public. We do not advertise AGGRASTAT to patients or consumers, and we do not operate a patient-facing AGGRASTAT website.
Separate terms govern your use of the Site; see the Terms and Conditions linked in the footer. The Site links to websites operated by other companies, including medicure.com and a third-party video platform, and those companies’ own privacy policies apply when you use them.
| Where it comes from | What we collect |
|---|---|
| Contact form | Your first and last name, email address, telephone number, job title, hospital or clinic, city, state, the topics you select, anything you write in the comments, and your agreement to be contacted. |
| Request Resource Shipment form | The same contact details, plus your mailing address, city, state and ZIP code, the materials and quantities you request, and whether you have asked to receive further communications from us. |
| Email updates sign-up | Your email address and the hospital you work at. |
| Email and telephone | Whatever you choose to tell us when you contact our product specialists or our Medical Information Department. |
| Adverse event and product complaint reports | Whatever you tell us when you report an adverse reaction or a product complaint, which will usually include information about a patient. See Section 6. |
| Telephone calls and voicemail | Your telephone number, a recording of the call or voicemail, and a transcript of it. See Section 2.4. |
The information we collect through the Site is professional contact information. We do not ask you for information about your own health, and we do not ask for patient-identifying information through any form on the Site.
When you visit the Site, we and the providers described in Section 4 collect your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, the pages you arrived from and moved on to, and the dates and times of your visit. We derive an approximate location from your IP address, generally no more precise than city or region.
Our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which helps us tell people from automated programs. reCAPTCHA collects information such as your IP address and how you interact with the page and sends it to Google. Its use is subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.
Our telephone lines are operated through a third-party communications provider. Calls are recorded for quality assurance, and voicemail messages are recorded, transcribed and delivered to the member of staff they were left for. You will be told at the start of the call that it may be recorded. If you would prefer not to be recorded, you can write to us instead.
The Site provides a calculator that works out a patient’s creatinine clearance from their sex, age, body weight and serum creatinine level, using the Cockcroft-Gault equation.
The calculator runs entirely in your own browser. The values you enter are used to perform the calculation on your device. They are not sent to us, they are not stored, and they are not passed to our analytics or advertising providers. Closing or reloading the page clears them.
The calculator does not ask for a patient’s name or any other identifying detail, and you should not enter any.
We do not use what you write in a form, or what you tell us by email or telephone, to target advertising to you.
Cookies are small data files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use pixels, tags and similar technologies, and refer to all of them as cookies here.
| Category | What it does | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Keeps the Site working and secure, records your cookie choices, remembers that you have confirmed you are a health care professional, and protects our forms from automated abuse. | Runs without consent. |
| Functional | These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly. | Runs only with your consent. |
| Performance | These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance. | Runs only with your consent. |
| Targeting | These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising. | Runs only with your consent. |
With your consent, we use analytics and advertising technologies provided by Google and Microsoft. Under our contracts with these companies, they may use information from the Site only to provide services to us. They do not receive what you type into our forms.
A current list of the individual cookies in use is published at http://aggrastathdb.com/cookie-list.
Use the Cookie Preferences link in the footer to accept or decline each category and to change your mind at any time. Non-essential cookies do not run until you accept them, and declining is as easy as accepting. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies.
We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control signal. Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal; there is no common standard for it and we do not respond to it.
Some pages contain video hosted by a third-party video platform. When that video loads, the platform receives your IP address and the address of the page you are viewing, and may set its own cookies.
Our emails contain pixels that tell us whether a message was opened and which links were followed. Every such email contains an unsubscribe link.
If you report an adverse reaction or a product complaint, we record what you tell us, investigate it, and report it to the United States Food and Drug Administration where we are required to. A report will usually include clinical information about a patient, which we handle as part of our drug safety obligations rather than for any commercial purpose.
Drug safety regulations require us to keep these records for a set period. If you later ask us to delete your personal information, we will delete what we can, but we cannot delete adverse event records, and we will tell you when that applies.
To report an adverse reaction, call 1-800-509-0544 or email adverse.events@medicure.com. For medical information enquiries, call the same number or email medical.information@medicure.com. You may also report to the FDA at fda.gov/medwatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088.
The Site publishes case series contributed by practising physicians, presented under their own names. We publish these only with each contributor’s written permission, and a contributor may withdraw that permission at any time by contacting us, after which we will remove their material.
The clinical cases described in those materials concern the contributors’ own patients. They are published without information that identifies the patient.
We do not sell personal information. Some United States state laws treat certain advertising technologies as “sharing” personal information for targeted advertising even where no money changes hands. To the extent the technologies on the Site are treated that way, you can opt out using Cookie Preferences or Global Privacy Control.
You may ask us to give you access to the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose, and you may withdraw consent you have given. We respond to every request and will not treat you differently for making one.
Some information we are required to keep, including adverse event records, and anything we need to comply with a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. Where that applies we will delete everything else and tell you what we have kept and why.
If you live in California or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may also request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, the sources, the purposes and the categories of recipients; correction; deletion; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
To stop receiving our emails, use the unsubscribe link in any message. To make any other request, fill out this form, email compliance@medicure.com, call 1-800-509-0544, or write to us at the address in Section 13. We may ask for information to confirm your identity, which we will use only for that purpose, and we will respond within the time the applicable law allows.
Medicure Pharma is based in the United States, and our parent company is based in Canada. Enquiries you send us may be read and answered by staff in either country, and some of our service providers are located outside the United States. Where information is held outside your own country it may be accessible to the courts and authorities of that country. Wherever it is held, we handle it in accordance with this Policy.
| Category | Retention |
|---|---|
| Adverse event and product complaint records | For the period required by drug safety regulation. This overrides deletion requests. |
| Contact form enquiries and correspondence | For 24 months after we respond. |
| Resource shipment requests | For as long as needed to fulfill and reconcile the shipment, and for 24 months afterwards. |
| Email subscriptions | While you are subscribed. Unsubscribe records are kept so we can honor your choice. |
| Call recordings, voicemail and transcripts | For 12 months, except where a call concerns an adverse reaction, in which case the drug safety period applies. |
| Contributor permissions for case series | For as long as the material is published, and afterwards for as long as a related claim could be brought. |
| Cookies and device identifiers | Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. |
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration and loss, including access controls, encryption in transit, and contractual commitments from our service providers. No system is completely secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
We may update this Policy. When we do, we will change the Last Updated date and post the revised version on the Site. If a change is material, we will give additional notice before it takes effect. We review this Policy at least once every twelve months.
The Site is intended for health care professionals and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the Site.
